So to rephrase your question.... What defines an architecture, and what defines a platform? I know there's someone else on this list leaping at the chance to answer this in a way more satisfying way than I could. :)

If with "delete/add processors" you mean physically taking the CPU package out of the computer, then no, this is not what we need. Obviously because it is a simulation, but also because we are targeting chip multiprocessors, which only have one package. If you mean something else, could you clarify?

I mean add/delete from the software's point of view. That is for deletion all data structures and state associated with the processor are thrown away (the CPU is unconfigured from the system). But yea, i'm sort of guessing you don't need to do that.
