I noticed from your truss output that there are two calls
to readlink() which fail:

quickly rtfm shows
EINVAL The path argument names a file that is not a
symbolic link.
Which makes me wonder what your config is and what changed
from snv_43. Did you used to have /opt symlinked off to
another part of the fs?
