No.

The hardware has always worked this way - it's defined in its principle of 
operations that I/O is part of the "change recording" mechanism. It is 
important to the other operating systems running on this architecture that a 
paged changed as a result of I/O is made known to the hardware so these pages 
can be swapped out if needed.

I'll find out soon. I just wanted to think aloud and see if others familiar 
with this type of stuff could shoot holes in what I was envisaging.
