I've noticed that if you want to move proto/archives/packages, you will
need to add a link to "usr" inside the directory which contains proto/
archive/packages.

I know use zfs filesystems for my builds and I use a specific "build"
sub fs:

        /this/is/myws
        /this/is/myws/build (contains proto, archives, log, etc)

In the root directory (myws) it looks like:

lrwxrwxrwx   1 casper   ir            14 Oct  2 17:27 archives -> build/archives
drwxr-xr-x   6 casper   ir             7 Oct  5 13:32 build
lrwxrwxrwx   1 casper   ir             9 Oct  2 17:27 log -> build/log
lrwxrwxrwx   1 casper   ir            14 Oct  2 17:27 packages -> build/packages
lrwxrwxrwx   1 casper   ir            11 Oct  2 17:27 proto -> build/proto

and the build directory looks like:

 \ls -l ../../../build/
total 13
drwxr-xr-x   3 casper   ir             4 Oct  5 18:35 archives
drwxr-xr-x   4 casper   ir             4 Oct 20 15:13 log
drwxr-xr-x   3 casper   ir             3 Oct 20 14:52 packages
drwxr-xr-x   3 casper   ir             3 Oct  5 13:33 proto
lrwxrwxrwx   1 casper   ir             6 Oct  5 13:32 usr -> ../usr

Note the weird usr -> ../usr link.
