You'll notice that the line is commented out in the Makefile: #MACHINE_DEFS += -DNCPU=554 So it has no effect (and rightly so). This has been there since the initial putback, so it looks like the project team "borrowed" the Makefiles from Serengeti/Starcat and never really removed it.
