I'd like to add a project for exploring and discussing matters related
to resource management. This project should be of particular interest
to the Zones community in terms of making each zone's resource
isolation stronger and its configuration simpler; other communities
may wish to endorse this project as well, such as the SMF, System
Administrators, and Approachability communities.
Initial Project goals:
- Gather requirements and design enhancements to extended accounting
and system monitoring subsystems.
- Design and implement solutions for usability issues within the pools
administrative interfaces.
- Explore and discuss new resource controls.
- Explore and discuss resource allocation and/or scheduling options.
- Explore and discuss interfaces for resource management administration
on zones.
- Address existing and new bugs and RFEs within solaris resource
controls, resource pools, projects, tasks, and extended accounting.
This is intended as an umbrella project under which to explore, discuss,
design, and implement resource management related features. Large
technical efforts might generate separate projects.
