x86 only for now.
You still need a UFS slice somewhere to hold the boot
archive. But it does work; my 2 x 2 GHz amd box
boots
w/ zfs root.

Once grub groks zfs, the need for the slice will go
away.

You mean you have a UFS /boot? I don't know why, but somehow I find that funny
:)

It's amusingly symmetric :-).

I suppose one could configure a UFS /boot to be mirrored with SVM, then use ZFS to mount the root FileSystem.

Would you mind posting the exact procedure here?

Tabriz will do that once build 36 is finished and hits the
streets; there may be a change before 36 is closed on Tuesday
and I don't want to have provided incorrect procedures...

Basically, you end up installing on a regular root, creating
a zfs filesystem and copying the contents of root into the
zfs filesystem. A few other fixups, vfstab edits, etc, and
you're good to reboot w/ the new zfs fileystem as root.

I would consider this experimental in the extreme for now;
not something for machines you _need_ to have running.

It does work, though.
