I'll look into filing a bug when i get a chance. Basically we've seen a
system lock up here without it. My understanding is that this was not
due to an out of memory condition, but I need to investigate further. We
also saw problems when we tried to stripe swap across our disks, but
that's a different issue.

I understand that. We're trying to eliminate the disks from a potential
point of failure (well, the dimms are still a potential failure point
too....).
