To make Solaris more attractive compared to Linux (et al.) we should
dump the whole X-Window System.

Sun should, as they did e.g. with replacing the init scripts with smf,
make a paradigm shift. The X-Window system was ok years ago, when there
were no web browser based applications, and administration tools had to
be opened remotly. When was the last time you opened xclock remotly?
:-)

IMHO Apple did the right thing with dumping X for Aqua with the
possibility of runnin X on top of it, for legacy apps. Let's face it, X
should die. We need something new.
