As Erast already mentioned, there's Mono packages available on Nexenta.
Furthermore, Blastwave also has Mono packages to download.

If it isn't already obvious [and what you've suggested yourself],
there's probably enough political overtones with Mono to scare off most
project teams in Sun to suggest including it in Solaris to the extent
that it probably hasn't ever seriously been suggested or researched. 

That's not to say that it won't ever happen though, and I for one would
like to see it happen at some stage in the future, having seen some of
the new applications being written with that platform [1] - I personally
think the platform needs a little bit more time to mature before we
could consider it.
