Yes, it is: I have to admit, that I also got a low config U20 (and temporarily a Sempron64) now, for platform compatibility testing / devlpmnt And also, because she is too sexy for me to resist, yet affordable. > Oh, my Ultra 60, E220R, and Sun Blade 1000 are still > Real Computers! But I probably don't know enough to judge on that. > > And then you go on and make a sparc laptop a bad > machine ? > > Hey, I *really* wanted to buy a SPARC laptop a year > ago. Mine has only the slower original WLAN, just 512Megs mem, a slow 20GB ide hdd (don't know how much rpm or cache. But one never can have everything at once, nor should have. > I'm a SPARC > bigot (still), :) > but even > when I was working (which I'm not at the moment) I > didn't have THAT much cash > to burn. As I said, you spent more for your Ferrari, than I for my (new, NIB) 500SX. List price was 4.5k, but I got it for only 2.2k. Plus S&H to E.U. and 16% VAT. I definitely had much luck, because I met a few Tadpole guys back then. When NC03Q4 conference happened here in Berlin. They gave me their e-mail and then I had the luck to negotiate a good deal. But if you are still interested: I saw those machines NIB on ebay for around $1k! But rarely/seldom of course. > > As for making SPARC laptops bad machines, you need to > look at the manufacturers > of said devices... The reason for this might be, that they have government customers?? Remember, prices were double or triple as high before arrival of the SPARCle: $20k (twenty) for a SPARCbook was no exception! > > > Rich, I'm really really disappointed of you ;) > > And this happened almost a year ago and I did't > even notice ... > > *Sigh* I feel all dirty now; I gotta take a bath! Sorry, I didn't intend you to feel bad. Did you enjoy it, at least ? :) Martin This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org
