Yes, most probably it then. The driver does attach immediately when it is installed; "batstat -t" will show you the thermal zones configured in the system. If there was a thermal interrupt it would have been handled and it would have caused the appropriate ACPI methods to be evaluated and that should have cleared the thermal event.
