I have had EXACTLY had the same issue - and believe it or not, fixed it by _no_more_ using Reflection X and XDMCP to connect to the box. Using a standard telnet or SSH and exporting the DISPLAY fixed that. The machine is now running for > 4 days without freezing. This is very weird - but for me it works.
