Glynn, Tools like hwinfo, NICtools, Sun VTS, SCSItools, and PCIutils are invaluable for hardware/software engineers for Solaris SDK/DDK work. Some of the tools were implemented on Knoppix for Live CD/DVDs and now Ubuntu.

One of the reasons why Ubuntu has flourished is because of their hwinfo tool that provides feedback on what is and isn't working from your recent install - invaluable in so many ways IMHO.
