Too bad that there are certain segments within Sun who can't see their way to supporting KDE on a more official level and feel that it's a direct threat to JDS.

As it has been mentioned elsewhere, it's very much a resource issue rather than
'direct threat' that you assert.

'Direct Threat' may have been a little harsh. Competition may be a better word for it.
My apologies.

Not that I'm bitter, I just believe in giving the customer what they've (repeatedly) asked for. The demand for a Sun supported KDE is there, but there seem to be certain groups who just can't see that. Failing official support from Sun, I'd support a well-integrated OpenSolaris KDE project.

As others have mentioned, there's no correlation between OpenSolaris and Sun (or
at least, there shouldn't be), so +1 from me - I'd love to see a set of rocking
KDE packages available for people to download and install.
I never claimed there was any correlation, I simply stated that if
Sun wasn't going to officially support the KDE desktop, I'd give
my support to an OpenSolaris KDE project.
It's good to hear that we've got your vote for an OpenSolaris KDE
project, hopefully we'll be able to count on your continuing
support.

John
