Any ideas? I've tried force-booting into 32 bit mode, disabling the CPU
specific module (mentioned by gavinm some time back), as well as disabling
HAL, (suspecting that it may be due to bug 6491248
FWIW, i was installing over a old build of 48 which was working fine.

that does look like
6491248 x2100 (Aquarius) crashes when running snv_51.
The mce is important, I think. The MCE (Machine Check Exception)
indicates that there's something quite weird going on.

that'll be the watchdog on the northbridge of your cpu. As to
why you're getting that ... I don't know for sure but I'm suspecting
your cd/dvd datapath. Were you able to capture a crash dump?
