Have you tried the Linux branded zones? You can run unmodified Linux binaries on Solaris.

I have, and they work for some stuff, but even then ...... it'd just be nice to have native solaris binaries and brandz stuff is still more work than I think there should be. Obviously this all goes back to usability.
