I guess I was referring to
http://www.sun.com/smi/Press/sunflash/2005-11/sunflash.20051130.1.xml
That was just about making it free-as-in-$0, not open source.
(I'm not saying it will never be open source, just that I don't know of
any public announcements on the matter yet.)
Talking about roadmaps, is the Xorg server for Sparc on the roadmap (or
even planned)?
Already shipping in nv_58 and later, though without any useful
drivers. (It has a test driver that allows treating an m64
as a dumb frame buffer so you can get a picture on the screen.)
We have a prototype of the XVR-2500 (kfb) Xorg driver that the
SPARC graphics group has provided running on an Ultra 25 in our
lab - it's got basic 2-D support, but still needs 3-D and added
features like resize added. Once that's done, they've promised
to do the same for XVR-100 & XVR-300.
Sun Ray is also working with us to port their drivers.
For everything else, it will have to be a community effort, and
you can see the work done there in the [EMAIL PROTECTED] list.
