Ever been to a bazaar? There's all kinds of unsavory and eccentric
people in there...

Companies with HR departments and lawyers have problems with whackos
too.

Besides, you're assuming that breaking a build would be bad.
Sometimes  it's good: makes you realize you've been doing something
wrong.

Finally, building a great distro takes patience, dedication, and hard
work from many people (except slackware--different story) and the
community self-polices when people have a great interest in the
success of a project, an interest that far exceeds the paycheck every
other Friday.
