Hi Darren,hi community
IMHO the role of Opensolaris in opensource communities is not clear. It seems to
be something like a different mode for Sun to promote Solaris and not an
independent community.

Which is exactly the goal of this Commuity? An entire CDDL opensource system
like freebsd (1) or a Solaris opensource subsystem like kernel dot org (2)?

1) The first choice would a complete builtable OS from source, from kernel to
Gnome *entirely* driven by opensolaris community.
2) This choice requires to add GPL(v3?) license to opensolaris system and offer
it as (better) alternative than linux kernel.

I don't understand the role and the goals of Indiana like "binary opensolaris
distro".Out of here the sources are a prerequisites for every opensource
community. The Idea about "only binary" is dangerous:It could be a clear message
to potentially reject every collaborative work between Sun,OpenSolaris
community and the rest of open world (communities and single developer).
