JDS was meant to be a Java Desktop System wasn't it ?
Not really - that was just a name chosen when "Java" was added to all Sun
product names - the "Sun Java Workstation" certainly had no Java in it.
So, I would suggest to go with www.jpedal.org and build a nice Java PDF Viewer that finally runs on each and every system. I'm using it on various Solaris boxes and it works already sufficiently well.
To test it unpack the archive to /opt/jpedal/ and put an icon in your panel
that calls:
java -Dsun.java2d.ddscale=true -cp
/opt/jpedal/bcprov-jdk14-119.jar:/opt/jpedal/jai_core.jar:/opt/jpedal/jai_codec.jar:/opt/jpedal/jpedalSTD.jar
org.jpedal.examples.simpleviewer.SimpleViewer
I'll leave that for the desktop guys to check out.
