Solaris 9 isn't OpenSolaris.  You should probably contact Sun's
support group, bigadmin, or comp.unix.solaris for help.

What name services (if any) are you using?

Do you have this host name specified in /etc/inet/hosts and in
/etc/inet/ipnodes?

What is in your /etc/nsswitch.conf file for the "hosts:" and
"ipnodes:"?

Does "getent hosts hostname" work?
