My understanding is, the auto fontpage switching mechanism in Solaris still needs some work. Recently there is a grand effort in the i18n community to revamp the unicode localization adm. That should help.
At the present time, don't use the default serif or sans-serif fonts in Firefox. For "western" locale, Solaris has already substituted them with "Times" and "Helvetica", respectively. If you use other locales, make sure that you do similar adjustments. The differences can be very noticeable.
