Hmm, I'd say that more correctly, AMD has failed to step up and taken ownership of ATI; they've bought them in terms of a transaction but the management there are pussy-footing around the edge by refusing to by their foot down and say, "this is what you (at ati) are going to do as part of our larger stratergy - don't like it, there is the door". Unfortunately it is easier for AMD to blame everyone else for their ineptness to take charge of the situation.
