IF you want the best separation of zones run whole root zones, as you build your zones document the I and CPU restart has some options, collect the stats as you put zones to use, if this is production use check with Oracle for any product patches, Use the latest Oracle if you can.
There is a big diff in IO performance for zfs, Vs. ufs especially when you use a whole disk for zfs allocation, as you disk then add or use the zpools in sets of two for the devices, this has worked very well and recommended mirroring , so the next level is adding a controller this will improve IO as well. If you end up creating linux zones, would be interesting to see how they perform as well. Lastly do not forget to export the zpool, in case of a system update or reload, it's great just import and your running.
