It is extremely unlikely that the problem is Solaris's support for your drives.
It is probably due to your SATA controller not being supported by the version
of Solaris you were running. Please visit this location where you can run the
Sun Device Detection Tool:

http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/hcts/device_detect.jsp

This will run on your existing operating system, and tell you about Solaris's
driver support for the devices in your system. If it says that your SATA
controller is not supported then this will be why Solaris isn't seeing your
SATA drives.

Assuming your SATA controller isn't supported on Solaris, you could try running
it in legacy mode. Normally all you need to do to enable this is switch off the
RAID feature of your SATA controller in the BIOS. Solaris will then be able to
access your SATA drives as if they were IDE drives.

Cheers

Andrew.
