For the new officially supported openSolaris distribution, my understanding
is that there will be a new release every six months, and each release will
be "supported" (I'm still trying to find out the details of this support as
compared to production Solaris 10 support) for 18 months.

I believe each release will also have updated packages over time as
fixes/features are added.

Given the new packaging format for openSolaris, I'm curious what would the
difference between a system originally installed as 5/08, then updated over
time with new versions of packages, compared to say a system originally at
5/08, then "upgraded" via an installer to hypothetically 11/08, compared to
a system installed from scratch with 11/08?

I'm trying to evaluate the maintenance requirement to always stay on a
supported openSolaris deployment.

Thanks...
