I guess so.
The one which is not working when writing should start is accessed by clicking:
Places -> CD/DVD creator.
I remember using this tool successfully on my other computer at home.
However I'm not sure this was on OpenSolaris or SXDE.
On Solaris 10, I've always used cdrw.
