And well, I would not care about what top does or doesn't report. Problem is: It is not just a game of numbers. This box got unbelievably sssslllllluuugggggiiiiiisssshhhhh until I killed most memory-consuming top- and wget-processes. I use to keep it running for days (for example did I fetch the sunsolve system-handbook before it got access-restricted in April 2005). Never did I see things like this. But, admit it, /usr/bin/top consuming 1.3GB of mem, that cannot explained anymore.
