Actually, I logged out as "jack" and then did a simple FailSafe Xsession and launched a xterm and then firefox and everything worked there. So I closed those and logged in again ... and everything works as expected. Better than expected in fact. Hell, brace yourself, I was working all night long with this OpenSolaris Live CD and in the morning, a teenager ( I have two of those installed here, fully debugged, or at least mostly bug free ) saw me flipping from window to window and I had YouTube playing music and as the screen flipped from window to window with that slick compviz effect he said "sweet! what's that?" OKay, when a 16 year old that is totally jaded with HALO and XBox and anything electronic says "sweet" at first glance then you have the right visual front end. Dennis ps: yep, I have nVidia Quadro here in this Ultra 20 so I have max effects turned on.
