The Gnome / X not starting and the APIC error are not related. A couple of builds ago (now at 111), Alan C told me that there were some fonts missing in gnome which caused the X problem. I tried his fix and it has been working since then. I understand the fix was in snv_110.
The APIC thing is another problem. It seems to be benign, causing no grief, just noise. I have no clue what is causing the error.
