You can just type in the command:

 su

at the command prompt and hit the "enter" key and then type in the root 
password (the root password, not your regular user password) and become root. 
It's a pretty standard thing that is available on every unix like system. Once 
you are root you can also use the "su" command to morph into other random users 
to read their e-mail and engage in other miscellaneous dodgy activities.

Type in:

man su

at the command line to learn more about it.
