Anyone know if the backup tool bacula is available to `pkg install'
from one of the repositories?

Not as far as I know.

You can always find out by doing this:

pkg search bacula

...if it doesn't find it, chances are there isn't a package for it,
especially if bacula is the name of the executable.

That would only tell if I had on the local machine.

Not anymore; as of 2009.06, pkg(1) will perform remote searches by default instead of '-l'.

even `pkg search -r bacula' will only find it if I have more repos
than dev on tap.

True, but there are very few repositories other than blastwave, sunfreeware, and pkg.opensolaris.org

Cheers,
