Hi, I have installed OpenSolaris 2009.06 on a Gigabyte EX38-DS4 MB with 4gig ECC RAM. This motherboard has 2 Realtek onbard GigE ports.
The original install was difficult because the network did not work initially.
I had to use manual config, no dhcp and provide address of Intrernet gateway.
Did not work straightaway, but after 5 mins, the network happened to be there.
The computer would from time to time hang during transfer or boot without
network.
I have extensivelky used the computer as dualboot with XP SP2 using standby .
This morning, I could not get the Opensolaris to get its network to connect.
I changed cable, added switch, rebooted XP.
*No way !!
I lost the day searching on internet, and could not modload gani 2.6.3
here is the info on my board.
as far as I understand, it is using the Realtek are identified 1006632960 so I
should be good with the patch previously given.
