I used entries like this ( and it worked for RH clones , what was actually
enough to display main menu) :-

kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-53.el5 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet
initrd /initrd-2.6.18-53.el5.img
chainloader +1
I invoked all Xen Linux instances from referenced /boot/grub/grub.conf file
on /dev/sda3 (/boot partition on CentOS 5.1 instance)
I failed when tried to use entry:-
title Xen openSUSE 11.0 - 2.6.25.5-1.1
root (hd0,9)
kernel /boot/xen.gz
module /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.25.5-1.1-xen
root=/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_ST3250410AS_9RY1TVBY-part10 resume=/dev/sda9
splash=silent showopts vga=0x31a
module /boot/initrd-2.6.25.5-1.1-xen
from either my standard menu /boot/grub/grub.conf ( at /dev/sda3) or
made the same entry (plus chainloader +1) directly into Nevada
/boot/grub/menu.lst
