John, I could not get what you mean by "submit a RFE to get the memory sticks included".
As I understand, all USB mass storage devices should be recognised and be usable without any explicit support from kernel or any application. Is it not the case ? As it is evident in the dmesg log that system does recognise it as a USB mass storage controller, and even scsa2usb driver is being attached. Somehow either the driver failed somewhere later or something else that should have followed it failed.
