when you installed opensolaris it would have asked you to enter a "root" password and confirm it at some stage in the installer. I assume you did this.
if your trying to configure Samba with SWAT, the writer of the howto is asking you to assume the role of root by using the "su" (switch user) command, this is done by opening a terminal typing su and hit enter. you will then be prompted to enter the pre mentioned password again hit enter if you have entered the correct password ,your terminal will have a "#" starting on a new line waiting for you to type the commands of your choice, take care. also you could try typing "man su" into a terminal this will help explain the command better, or "man" any other command for e.g. the command mentioned by previous poster"pfexec" if your asking about step 4, I'm not sure, as I haven't installed it myself, but my guess is that you should be confronted with a window requesting the username "root" and your root password before being able to use the site, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. hope this helps some -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
