I fixed the problem. I have two monitors with USB hubs in them. Once I unplugged the USB from the back of the machine and plugged my apple keyboard directly into the USB slots on the machine it booted fine.
Weirdly I could reconnect and use the USB hubs and devices on them after boot. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
