After the first boot from hdd: how long did you wait for gdm to start up? During the first boot of the system font and icon caches are constructed and you have to wait 1-2 minutes after the "console login" prompt appears, until gdm is started. On a slow machine you may have to wait longer. In case gdm is still not started after 10 minutes, I'd login on the console prompt, and check with "svcs -x" if there are any failing services. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
