Easy. Connect to the Internet through your ISP. If it *is* DHCP, /etc/resolv.conf will contain all the details. Actually, I am not clear on what you want to do. If you are connected and everything is fine, just leave it as is. If you think, you could connect with a fixed IP, chances are, you couldn't. Usually for an end user, the IP address(es) of the DNS are just enough.
