running opsol 5.11 (2008.05) + CUPS from SFW installed in /opt/sfw/cups
entered:
# export path=/opt/sfw/cups/bin:/opt/sfw/cups/sbin:${PATH}
# /opt/sfw/cups/etc/init.d/cups start
scheduler is runnning
# which lppasswd
/opt/sfw/cups/bin/lppasswd
# lppasswd -g sys -a root
Enter password:
Enter password again:
# firefox &
firefox starts, I enter localhost:631 in the URL, and the user and password
authentication window appears. Tried to log in as root with above password, no
joy :( nothing I enter gets me into the cups server.
the /opt/sfw/cups/var/log/cups/error_log file merely confirms the lack of
authentication:
E [03/Aug/2008:13:24:49 +0000] IsAuthorized: pam_authenticate() returned 9
(Authentication failed)!
any ideas?
