I deleted the EFI labeled fdisk partition 2, and created one with type OTHER. *This aparently solved both problems instantaneously.* I carefully checked that the problem is still rpesent, then deleted the fdisk partition and created a new one in its place, then after that I checked the Solaris partition table and it got fixed. I can now create a ZFS pool on the OTHER partition, AND the Solaris partition now has got the exepected standard slices for slice 2, slice 8 and slice 9. All free hog also now operates as one would expect! Strange. Thank you for the help! _J -- Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Arthur C.
