If you do a "stop-a" you will stop Solaris running completely which will disconnect your VNC session. If you've got a video card installed in your V240 the easiest way is to boot using that as the local console (with a keyboard and optionally a mouse) and run the install from there. If the server is headless, you need to determine which device is set as the console. Can you post the output of the "eeprom"command ?
