I made the same mistake following instructions on the release notes page resulting in several behaviors that seem broken with respect to the package manager, the most obvious being that the GUI for it won't start.
Does that package manager update permanently break the UI package manager? Is there any way to get that working without upgrading to a much later snv_xx build? As in, staying on the supported 2008.05. What is the disadvantage of staying with the pkg that comes with 2008.05? It seems to me that the update listed on the release notes page may cause more problems than it fixes. I don't like choosing the least of two evils. This message posted from opensolaris.org
