Why don't you try getting something newer?I think the best you can do on that 
is Sol9 and it will be painfully slow.Ultra5s and 10s will run Sol 10 or 
Opensolaris pretty well provided that you upgrade the RAM to at least 512 and 
use a SCSI drive.The built-in atapi controller in those stations is pretty much 
useless as well.
I have an Ultra 5 with 512 RAM and a 10k SCSI drive that I don't use 
anymore,and type 5 kb and mouse if you are interested.
