Similarly, my OpenSolaris 8.11 Live CD gives up soon after the grub prompt,
though I am able to choose boot options. In the first option, it gives error
messages like "WARNING: pcplusmp: mod_remove_by_name failed 16 WARNING: /pci at
0,0/pci107b,600 at id/storage at 2/disk at 0,0 (sd0): Command failed to
complete. Device is gone. After a few similar warnings, the CD stops spinning.
Game Over.

My other live distros including Ubuntu 8.10, Mint 6 and gOS haven't had this
problem. I used Sun's system scanner to see if OpenSolaris would be compatible
and it seems okay except for the modem and sound card (old Gateway P4 laptop
600ygr, circa 2002).
