I also have a Laptop with the Santa Rosa CHipset . It Uses the E1000G ethernet chipset .
try to boot the Solaris Express install check tool CD to find out which chipsets YOU have https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_SMI-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewProductDetail-Start?ProductRef=Sol-Exp-InstlCk-1.3-G-F at CDS-CDS_SMI or run the /usr/X11/bin/scanpci binary to find out what ethernet chip you have.
