Hi, I beleive the ephemeral ID's is used for users not registered in solaris and only registered in the A/D. Solaris UID/GID's should be used for users in a Solaris user database which ever you are using ( /etc/passwd, NIS, LDAP ) provided that the winchester idmap is populated for the user .
read the idmap manaual .
