Add "-kv" instead of just "-v". It will drop you into kernel debugger instead of rebooting.
Since it's an Acer, I think it's the well known ACPI issue. Google it. Some Acers have buggy ACPI BIOS and it requires setting acpi kernel options. This message posted from opensolaris.org
