I'm able to do what I had asked for.... Here's what I did I created 2 interfaces using crossbow.... inic2 and inic3... I got an address for 1 nic. (inic3). when I created the VBOX vm I attached the 2 NIC's. ( the second nic with no ip, just plumbed it). I was able to connect and install the os (this time windowx xp) from the first nic (the one i got the dhcp ip). When the OS came up I got an dhcp address from within the guest for the second interface. I disabled the first one from within the guest.
Now i'm able connect to the "console" using first nic and i'm able to connect to the VM directly using the second nic.... Notes: for the 2 nic's the MAC address in vbox must be the same as in the host. Hope that helps... Thanks Vrajah -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
